Digital Access for all

DID YOU KNOW

Statistics show that nearly half of Canadian households with an income of $30,000 or less do not have access to high-speed internet.

42%

low-income households lack Internet access at home.

And

5,000,000+

school-age children lack a broadband Internet connection at home.

This lack of access is not just a convenience issue; it’s a barrier to education, employment, health information, and social services, which have increasingly moved online, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Mission

The issue FEC is tackling with this project is the significant digital divide affecting low-income families in Canada.

FEC’s approach is direct and practical: provide the internet and the necessary equipment to those who lack it, and offer setup support to ensure they can utilize these tools effectively. This strategy is grounded in the urgency of the need, where action must precede extensive analysis to prevent the gap from widening.
